WELCOME TO WHITMAN ICE HOCKEYRead More
Although, Ice Hockey is a club sport at Whitman there is a well-organized league (The Maryland Scholastic Hockey League) that provides the Whitman Ice Hockey team the opportunity to have the full high school athletic experience, with a season running from mid November to mid February, including playoffs, a state championship game, and two All Star games. Since ice hockey is a club sport, there are no tryouts and everyone who signs up will have the opportunity to play in games. Additionally, because it is a club spot, all expenses and administrative support must be provided by the members and their parents. If the club fee would create financial hardship for a family, they should contact the board to discuss alternative arrangements. The club has the dual objective of fielding a competitive varsity team and providing all members the opportunity to play and further develop their skills. Therefore, the club sponsors two teams- a varsity team that represents Whitman in the MSHL and a Junior Varsity Development team that plays games against others in the MSHL who also field JVD, and JV team.
